PARTI Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) should not take lightly the threat posed by the cooperation between Pas and Umno in the Semenyih by-election.

Its president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, said the cooperation between the two parties during the recent Cameron Highlands by-election proved fruitful.

However, he said he was optimistic that the Semenyih byelection, set for March 2, would be different.

“I am not sure if it (the UmnoPas cooperaton) is strong. They seemed to have succeeded in Cameron Highlands. But in Semenyih, the situation is not the same. Nevertheless, we should not take things lightly. If they work together again, we will have a strategy to handle them,” he said after a meeting with Hulu Langat PPBM committee members yesterday.

Earlier, Muhyiddin met with heads of villages in the Semenyih state constituency.

On the cooperation between Umno and Pas, Muhyiddin said he believed not all members of the parties were agreeable to it.

On feedback from party committee members and village heads here, he said voters were keen to see problems, such as floods and traffic congestion, solved.

They also wanted Kajang Hospital and government clinics to be upgraded, he said.

Muhyiddin said the concerns would be brought up at the cabinet meeting.
