Societe Family co-founder and director Choong Kar Heng said the team took about two weeks to plan and come up with the oriental-inspired dishes.

“My brother, Kar Wai, who is also the co-founder, and I spent a lot of time in the kitchen and we were happy with the outcome.

“We incorporated Chinese flavours in the dishes and gave a modern twist to the traditional dishes.”

The 29-year-old, who studied design in Melbourne, Australia, took the cafés there as an inspiration to start Garage 51 here in Malaysia in 2013. There’s no turning back since.

“We received good response to the festive menu, albeit a little slow since the holiday season has just ended.

“But we believe the crowd will come once the word is out,” said Choong, who designed the space for Garage 51.

Besides the special festive menu, Garage 51 also focuses on brunches, Western food, milkshakes and coffee.

The special menu will be available until the end of the month.
