CRUCIAL TO PREPARE FOR CHANGE

UNIVERSITI Malaya’s Social Wellbeing Research Centre has estimated that the number of Malaysians aged 60 and above will likely reach 3.5 million in 2020 and 6.3 million by 2040 so preparing for the changes and challenges that this will bring is crucial.

There will be increased demand for healthcare for the elderly while a larger elderly population will see an increase in chronic diseases such as stroke, diabetes, age-related eye diseases and certain types of cancer.
