Luxurious symbol of love
Ideal for Valentine’s Day, jeweller Harry Winston has a timepiece with mother-of-pearl and ruby, writes Aznim Ruhana Md Yusup
RENOWNED jeweller Harry Winston is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a special edition of its Avenue Classic timepiece. Called Sweet Valentine, the white mother-of-pearl dial features lines of red hearts — also made of mother-ofpearl — that become progressively larger as they reach the top. The hearts are threedimensional and get plumper as they get bigger, so the raised contours are visible in profile.
Like other Avenue Classic pieces, posiat tioned the top and bottom of the watch’s case are arches in tribute to the arched doorway of Harry Winston’s flagship store in New York City. Here, a heart-shaped ruby is incorporated in the top arch along with a truncated ruby in the crown, in place of the traditional diamond.
Sweet Valentine has 48 white diamonds on the bezel, lugs and sides of the case, as befits Harry Winston’s diamond expertise. The watch is finished off with a white gold case back engraved with its limited edition number and a red alligator leather strap.
It is also fitted with a high-end Swiss quartz movement, which according to the brand, makes it “ideal for everyday wear”. Sweet Valentine is limited to 14 pieces.
