Low maintenance is the key
IT is February and if you haven’t made changes to your garden to usher in the new year, it is not too late. Useful tips to develop a garden plan for 2019:
1. KEEPING IT LOW-MAINTENANCE
More plants and gardening tools mean more stress, so keep it low-maintenance all-year round. A disheveled garden can leave homeowners feeling overwhelmed. You can enjoy gardening by working out a plan for what your garden will look like.
• Have more perennials in your
frontyard and group them together
based on their watering needs.
• Remove trees or shrubs that don’t provide ecological benefits. For example, a tree that drops a lot of leaves and a shrub that creeps into an oft-used pathway are something you may want to consider removing from your garden.
• Invest in an irrigation system or lawn sprinkler system. An irrigation system is basically the application of controlled amounts of water to plants at needed intervals. This way you won’t have to worry if your plants wither due to dry soil.
• If you plan to add hardscaping materials, choose stones that won’t require constant repair or pavers that don’t need to be cleaned constantly.
