2. CREATING A STAYCATION SPOT

-

Create your perfect spot within your housing grounds - a “staycation” spot in the comfort of your own frontyard. If you like to meditate or do yoga in the outdoors, make sure the space is suitable and allows you room for both. Basically what you need is a private, secluded spot. This should help you destress at home instead of taking a holiday somewhere which will burn a hole in your pocket.

• Surround your sitting area with lush plants. You may want to add tall narrow plants as a privacy screen.

• Keep it low maintenance!

• Invest in outdoor furniture that can last in all-weather conditions. The mistake some people make is that they look for cheap furniture as they don’t want to spend too much, but the furniture don’t last long. Before you know it you will be buying a new set. What you will need are weather-resistant wooden or plastic chairs, and a coffee table. A comfy lounge chair with fade-resistant fabric or a classic iron bench will also do good for your “staycation” spot. Make sure the furniture is comfortable and visually appealing.

• Add lightings to make your outdoor space look cool and somewhat cosy at night.

• Set up a weather-proof speaker system to enjoy music while you’re outside.

• Include a simple water feature, either a fountain or fish pond with running water.
