SPORTS Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman hopes the issues faced in organising this year’s Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) will be resolved today. Saddiq said all relevant parties will discuss it and work out a solution.

Organisers Human Voyage Sdn Bhd, who were awarded the job last month, were reported to have asked the Malaysia National Cycling Federation (MNCF) for a change in the race dates via UCI’s approval.

MNCF, however, are not keen on postponing the race, currently scheduled on March 24-31.

“There will be a discussion today between the National Sports Council, (Sports Ministry) chief secretary, MNCF and the organisers,” said Saddiq.

“This meeting is to find a middle ground between all parties. We want to find a solution. I think we will get the final say.

“I have informed all parties that it is paramount this event runs smoothly, that is the priority.

“This is because the race is the brainchild of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and he takes great interest in this event.”

MNCF, on Tuesday, stated that they have given Human Voyage until today to decide whether they will be able to organise the race.

I have informed all parties that it is paramount this event runs smoothly, that is the priority.
