She doesn’t want to be like everyone else. She’s different so don’t paint her with the same stroke you do others.
It’s 2019, she’s now 22, but as we all know, The Pains Of Growing never really go away until you’re done growing up, which really is never.
The most appealing thing about Cara (real name Alessia Caracciolo) is her modesty. She still sings of the everyday troubles of a young adult, and clearly the bright lights of stardom still hasn’t drawn her towards the celebrity life.
Partying late into the night or speculation on her relationship status is near non-existent. While some may argue that ultimately it’s her reluctance to embrace the stardom that will hold her back, one suspects that she couldn’t care less.
Musically, there aren’t many in the pop mainstream today with her songwriting finesse and with exceptional vocal prowess to go along with it.
On The Pains Of Growing, there are ample opportunities to enjoy her voice carrying a song, like on I Don’t Want To and Wherever I Live. And as you flow along on the rest of the album, it is very noticeable that she has grown over the past few years and her troubles seem different now. But you do get the feeling she’ll shrug them off like she does everything else. 4.5/5
