Is It Safe to Reboil Water?

REBOILING water is when you boil it, allow it to cool below the boiling point, and then boil it again. Have you ever wondered what happens to water chemistry when you reboil water? Is it still safe to drink?

What Happens When You Reboil Water?

If you have perfectly pure distilled deionised water, nothing will happen if you reboil it. However, ordinary water contains dissolved gases and minerals. The chemistry of the water changes when you boil it because this drives off the volatile compounds and dissolved gases. There are many cases in which this is desirable.

However, if you boil the water too long or reboil it, you risk concentrating certain undesirable chemicals that may be in your water. Examples of chemicals that become more concentrated include nitrates, arsenic, and fluoride.

Does Reboiled Water Cause Cancer?

There is a concern that reboiled water may lead a person to develop cancer. This concern is not unfounded. While the boiled water is fine, increasing the concentration of toxic substances may put you at risk for certain illnesses, including cancer.

For example, excessive intake of nitrates has been linked to methemoglobinemia and certain types of cancer. Arsenic exposure may produce symptoms of arsenic toxicity, plus it has been associated with some forms of cancer. Even “healthy” minerals may become concentrated to dangerous levels. For example, excessive intake of calcium salt, commonly found in drinking water and mineral water, can lead to kidney stones, hardening of the arteries, arthritis, and gallstones.

How Do Malaysians Do It?

As a Malaysian or we can say as Asians, most of us will use a kettle to boil some water. But what happens to the balance water? We will normally place it in a water jar or mug.

Solution?

A Malaysian has invented a Hot Water Dispenser to help us to stay away from reboiling water. The hot water dispenser is a dispenser where it will only boil the water whenever we need hot water. We would be able to control the temperature as in 45 degrees for a morning drink for Detoxification; 55 degrees for the protein shake; 65 degrees for baby milk; 75 degrees for English tea; 85 degrees for Chinese tea; and, 100 degrees.

We can also control the amount of hot water dispensed — 100ml, 200ml, 300ml or countinous flow. You will be getting your ideal hot water temperature and amount in just 3 seconds.

The dispenser uses a core “Nanocrystal Tube”, a non-metallic hydro-isolation water heating technology.

Boiled water is supplied by Nano Tube and is ready between 2 and 5 seconds when required.

Compared to traditional hot water dispensers that has fluctuations in water temperature, water sterilisation is done during the heating process in the SEERS Thermos Flask. The SEERS Thermos Flask overcomes the disadvantages such as reboiling water that is mixed with impurities and metal particles. All the components used are within the country’s safe standard.

The power saving is approximately 98 per cent on the “standby”mode for the hot water dispenser and 50 per cent energy savings compared with other traditional dispensers on the “keep warm” mode. With the SEERS Thermos Flask, you can get hot water within 3 seconds without any worries of high electricity consumption.
