RADIO Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) has been told to submit a report after a minister’s aide accused the national broadcaster of “sabotaging the government”.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo said he had only looked into the matter yesterday.

“I have asked RTM to give me a report and once I have it, I will do what’s necessary.

“I will need to look at the terms of coverage...what is the standard operating procedure (SOP) before I can comment further on this.”

He had asked RTM to list its SOP in relation to requests to the station to cover an event.

Gobind was speaking after the launch of the groundbreaking collaboration between YTL Communications Sdn Bhd, Facebook and the federal government for the first large-scale Terragraph market pilot project in Asia here.

On Sunday, Transport Minister Anthony Loke’s press secretary, Lim Swee Kuan, questioned whether RTM was sabotaging the government.

“Not a single word of the speeches of Aminuddin Harun (Negri Sembilan menteri besar) and Loke Siew Fook (transport minister) was broadcasted! What is this if this is not sabotage?

“Heads must roll over the possible sabotage against the government administration.”

His statement was posted on his Facebook page.

Lim’s statement came after RTM did not broadcast the speeches of Aminuddin and Loke at the Pakatan Harapan government’s inaugural national-level Chinese New Year open house in Seremban. Loke is Seremban member of parliament.

Lim had said that an official letter would be sent to Gobind.

Present at the Chinese New Year open house were Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
