British opposition loses 7 MPs
LONDON: Seven lawmakers from opposition Labour Party announced yesterday they were breaking away over the party leadership’s support for Brexit and its failure to stamp out anti-Semitism. The seven attacked party chief Jeremy Corbyn for leading Labour to the far left and said they would sit as an independent group in Parliament. The group included Chuka Umunna, who has led a cross-party campaign for a second referendum on Brexit and was once seen as a potential party leader.
