SELANGOR coach B. Sathianathan has taken full responsibility for the 4-0 thrashing by PKNS at the Shah Alam Stadium on Sunday.

“I am to be blamed for the defeat,” said the frustrated former national coach.

“We lost 4-0, and I am responsible for it. Our strikers had a lot of chances, but they could not convert them. I am also responsible for this problem. PKNS took their chances. We also made silly mistakes in the process.”

Fans are disappointed with Selangor who have not won after three matches into the season.

The 61-year-old Sathianathan said there is not much he can do unless he receives support to turn things around.

“I will talk to the management first. It is a sticky situation... either the team change their players or sack their coach.

“If the management want me to stay on, I will remain here and try to make positive changes.

“However, I will need the support from everyone to get things in order,” said the former Kelantan coach, who declined to reveal the issues in the team.

Selangor will travel to Kuantan on Sunday to face Pahang in their next match.

Nicholas Swirad (27th), Kpah Sherman (50th), Chan Vathanaka (79th) and Romel Morales (90th) scored for PKNS.

PKNS coach K. Rajagobal admitted he did not expect a huge win over Selangor.

“I made some changes in tactics after the lead and played compact to deny Selangor an equaliser. They became desperate, and we took advantage by scoring from counter-attacks.

“It is a great result, but we cannot get too comfortable with it. We need to keep on working hard,” said Rajagobal.

PKNS will take on Perak SEDC in Shah Alam on Saturday in their next match.
