Impose heavy punishment on attacker, say netizens

KUALA LUMPUR: Netizens rejoiced in the arrest of a man believed to have assaulted and robbed a woman in a lift at the Taman Mutiara Mass Rapid Transit station in Cheras here on Thursday.

Malaysians from all walks of life lauded police for doing a good job in nabbing the culprit and called for a heavy punishment to be meted out.

Facebook user Jennifer N. Siong Siong wrote on the NST Online Facebook page: “Thank you, PDRM (police). You’re the best.”

Another user, O’jin Lui, said: “Good job, good job, never judge our #PDRM credibilit­y and capability.”

Netizen Shree Murthy said the man must be punished for his action.

“No mercy for him.”

Another user, Shobie Murugasapi­llai, shared the same sentiment.

“Please ensure he gets a severe punishment so that he will never think of robbing again.”

Sarojinee Murugiah said: “Well done, PDRM. The punishment should be a severe one, so that it will be a lesson to everyone.”

Sulaiman Allan called the man violent, adding that he hoped the latter would get the maximum sentence.

Ai Lee Lim wrote: “I feel like asking everyone here to give him a punch and let him taste it.”

Some netizens wanted the man’s face to be revealed to the public.

Chew Khien Fah said: “We want to see his face, a clear picture of his face. We want to fit that face to the character that he portrays.”

Simon Tai said the New Straits Times should put the man’s face on the front page to make him “famous like a superstar”.
