BAE Systems is proud to be continuing its support for the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) for another year.

The company, which is the largest international supplier to the Malaysian Armed Forces, has been represented at the global showcase event since it began in 1991.

Its presence at this year’s LIMA celebrates its investment in Malaysia, developing local capabilities and skills to deliver a safer, more prosperous nation for more than 50 years.

On display is technology across a multitude of domains, including the advanced cockpit of the Hawk aircraft, which has prepared more than 140 pilots for life in fast-jet cockpits operated by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), the best-selling APKWS weapons guidance system and the 40Mk4 and 57Mk3 naval gun systems currently in service with the Royal Malaysian Navy.

Natasha Pheiffer, managing director, Southeast Asia at BAE Systems, said: “LIMA is a global showcase of capability and a gateway to the heart of the world’s most dynamic markets and regions, so we are delighted to be represented for a further year.

“BAE Systems has been a partner of Malaysia for more than 50 years and has committed more products and services to the nation than any other defence company in the world.

“We have already witnessed the success of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Vision 2020 initiative set out in the 1990s and across all domains, and we have played a part in supporting these ambitions.

“Today, we employ around 450  people, the majority of whom are Malaysian nationals, in delivering cyber security services from our hub in Kuala Lumpur, and industrial partnerships we have formed over many decades have delivered long-term value to the nation’s economy.

“Malaysia’s Air Force flies our aircraft, the Malaysian Navy sails our frigates, and the Malaysian army drives our vehicles, and, as the nation builds its vision of the future, we look forward to continuing our support.”

At LIMA 2019, BAE Systems is located in the indoor exhibition and outside the main entrance to the hall with the full-scale replica of the Typhoon, the world’s leading multi-role combat aircraft operated by air forces across the world.

On the main stand, the advanced cockpit of the Hawk aircraft, the world’s most successful and proven military fast jet trainer, will give visitors the opportunity to witness the advanced airborne simulation technology which has trained RMAF pilots for decades.

Demonstrating the technology behind BAE Systems’ products will be the company’s best-selling APKWS weapons guidance system, as well as advanced sensor fusion capabilities and the innovative E-Scan radar.

Naval displays will include the 40Mk4 and 57Mk3 naval gun systems currently in service with the Royal Malaysian Navy and a scale model of BAE System’s Offshore Patrol Vessel currently under construction for the Royal Thai Navy and the UK Royal Navy.

Land-based weapons systems will be represented by a scale model of the 105mm Light gun, which continues to operate successfully for multiple nations around the world.

An interactive demonstration of the solutions BAE Systems provides to the financial sector and governments to protect their critical infrastructure from its Malaysian cyber business will also be on show.
