Listen as you run

A PAIR of wireless earphones is great for supplying some entertainment as you run but the Run Free Pro Bio earphones from Soul Electronics promises to do a lot more, thanks to its gait analysis technology.

According to the manufacturer, data collected from the device include head angle, cadence, step length and symmetry. Used with the Soul Fit app, the data is processed to provide real time coaching with a computer voicing out on the runner’s current form and ways to improve.

For example, head angle is described as the up-down tilt of the head and affects upper body posture that is critical to efficient running. Based on data collected, the app could suggest to the runner to look ahead while raising their shoulders.

The company believes the product will benefit runners who want to minimise the risk of injury while improving their performance. Along with speed, distance and time, data collected by the device include things like flight time and vertical oscillation, which can be reviewed as a graph on the app.

The earphone itself is designed to be sweat and water-resistant, so it can be used outdoors in all weather. It comes with Bluetooth and a built-in microphone, as well as a 11-hour battery life with a two-hour charging time.

Run Free Pro Bio comes in two colours — red and grey — and retails for RM499 on the Soul Electronics official store on 11street.my.
