QIU produces industry-ready grads
NEW economies and technological innovations will create more jobs. This was based on a McKinsey Global Institute study that found up to 800 million workers worldwide will lose their jobs by 2030, replaced by automation.
The study of 46 countries and 800 occupations found that up to onefifth of the global workforce will be affected. At Quest International University Perak (QIU), the focus is on creating employees, who will not only survive, but thrive in this environment. The goal is to develop graduates who become prime job market targets once they step off the convocation stage.
QIU Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Goh said employers want
to hire candidates who have the education and skills to make an immediate impact in an organisation.
“The job market will be filled with candidates who have similar qualifications. QIU’s programmes are designed to reflect industry demands, and the goal is to create graduates who are job-ready.”
“They have the chance to join international conferences, sports and academic competitions. This is where they can shine and equip themselves with unique experiences,” said Goh.
For industrial exposure, an example of this is the university’s fluid curriculum concept for two engineering programmes — the Bachelor of Electronics Engineering (Communication) with Honours and the Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering with Honours.
There is usually only a semester of industrial attachment in a fouryear Bachelor’s Degree engineering programme. However, QIU’s curriculum will offer a yearly industry attachment from the first year, thus providing students with an unrivalled level of industry exposure. The same principle of creating job-ready students extends to QIU’s culinary arts programme, where students utilise a state-ofthe-art kitchen, an in-house bakery and fine dining restaurant to polish their professional skills.
QIU also offers an in-house recording studio equipped with the latest gear that will expose students to the recording and broadcasting world.
Moreover, QIU’s Faculty of Medicine Faculty of Medicine students can hone the skills they need to perform in the world of modern medicine at the state-of-the-art laboratories and infrastructure.
QIU’s Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, and its Faculty of Medicine has been validated as a medicine school of high quality.
QIU is an approved centre for the United States Medical Licensing Examination training.
Graduates can enter residency or fellowship programmes in Canada and the US that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
The MBBS programme is accredited by the Malaysian Medical Council and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency. It is recognised by the Health Ministry.
In addition to that, QIU’s Faculty of Business and Management is a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and QIU is also a member of the International Association of Universities, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
