Victims’ wives demand swift action
KUALA LUMPUR: The wives of missing Pastor Raymond Koh and Amri Che Mat want closure of the cases and the perpetrators brought to justice as soon as possible.
Susanna Koh and Norhayati Mohd Ariffin said they were giving Attorney-General Tommy Thomas and the authorities between three and six months to take action against those who were involved in the abductions.
“If nothing is done, we have no choice but to file a suit against the Special Branch or those who are involved.
“All we want is for our husbands to be back home safely with us and justice to be served,” said Susanna.
Perlis-based social activist Amri was reported missing on Nov 24, 2016, while Koh went missing on Feb 13, 2017. He was last seen by his wife about 10.15am.
Susanna said she and Norhayati hoped to meet the prime minister, home minister, inspectorgeneral of police and Criminal Investigation Department chief to get an update on the investigation.
However, there was no timeline given on when they want to meet these people.
“This is not the end. It’s just the beginning. We want to see the perpetrators brought to justice,” said Susanna at the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia’s (Suhakam) briefing to announce the final findings of the public inquiry into Amri and Koh’s disappearances yesterday.
After discussions and deliberations, the commission has concluded that Amri and Koh were the victims of enforced disappearance, said panel head Datuk Mah Weng Kwai.
