M-cyclists rushing to deliver food can cause fatal crashes

- ARIFF SHAH R.K. Penang

say hunger makes a thief of any man. But it’s better not to make any man a bringer of death.

I’m talking about fast food restaurants and their delivery service.

We see delivery boys speeding to deliver the orders. They ride their motorcycles as if they’re on a suicide mission.

It pays to look both ways when you cross a one-way street.

Could anyone live with the fact that a motorcyclist died while delivering food to you?

Do we need deaths to occur before we realise it?

If there is a delay, there is only a loss of time but not a loss of life.

Consumers should be more considerate and not expect delivery service to be so fast that it disregards safety.

Consumers should reject fastfood outlets if they practise speedy deliveries.

While it is known that children can choke on grapes, popcorn and sausages, we must also consider crab claws as a choking hazard.

Crab claws taste good on pizzas but their sharp tips and hard shell pose a risk to children.

Children are distracted when eating and do not focus on what is entering their mouths.

Food companies should consider putting a choking warning label on pizza boxes and menus.

It only takes a sneeze for some people to come down with a flu.

Sneezing is the body’s method of kicking out germs or allergens.

It is common to see sick workers at eateries and fast-food outlets sneezing or coughing without closing their mouths with a handkerchief.

In this situation, germs are transmitted to customers.

There have been instances where workers cough or sneeze at customers’ faces while taking their orders.

The management has to train staff about work manners, like covering their nose and mouth with a tissue when sneezing or coughing, leaving the work station for a while, or having them wear a mask.

If workers are sick, they should go home. It is rude and selfish to sneeze or cough without covering your mouth.

Food outlets must place reminders on their premises about sneezing and coughing to prevent the spread of diseases.
