Designed for durability
Acer TravelMate X3310 is optimised for productivity, security and reliability, writes Balqis Lim
FOR those who work long hours out of the office, having a laptop with a good battery life is a must. The laptop also needs to handle a variety of software at the same time without interruptions. For durability, the Acer TravelMate X3310 is probably the right choice.
DESIGN
Dubbed as a business-class laptop, the outer clamshell looks strict and minimalist.
Covered in anodised aluminum, fingerprints stick easily on the surface but are not as visible.
Continuing the same simplistic design concept inside, the palm rest area is big and houses a huge touchpad for improved usability. Its smooth surface is generally good for light mouse clicks and gesture control.
There will be no need for additional lighting when working late night as each key is lit by its own LED light source to help you get the job done even in a dimly lit environment.
This laptop houses three USB 3.0 ports, one USB Type-C port, one HDMI, one VGA, one RJ45 port, a headphone jack and SD card reader.
Personally, the range of ports excites me, especially the SD card reader. They are a great addition and save time and space for those travelling with a camera.
SPECIFICATIONS
Powering the Acer TravelMate X3310 is an Intel Core i5-8250U processor with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 256GB M.2 PCIe SSD for serious productivity and faster performance.
The laptop is shipped with Windows 10 Professional and boasts a 13.3-inch FHD display with patented Acer BluelightShield and ComfyView to protect eyes, provide clearer images, crisper text and vibrant web browsing experience.
It also comes with a robust design — a smooth 180-degree opening to a flat position, allowing for the sharing of presentations with colleagues with more flexibility.
Certified in accordance with US military testing standards, the Acer TravelMate X3310 offers unmatched durability. It can withstand a drop from 122cm.
PERFORMANCE
As a journalist, a laptop is an essential device for working out of the office and when travelling.
Having the TravelMate X3310 definitely helps as it is able to last a full’s day of work on a single charge. Depending on your usage, you may also get some spare power for some movie viewing afterwards.
Weighing just 1.6kg, it is light enough to hold with one hand. It is so portable that I can also put it in my tote.
No problems are apparent with web browsing word processing and YouTube surfing. But it is not recommended for gaming as the laptop is not optimised for that purpose.
For professionals who need to do their presentations, the port range will be something to be appreciated and used often.
Transferring photos is a breeze with the SD card reader as you do not have to carry an extension every time you travel or work outside.
A fingerprint reader is integrated directly into the power button, which is a quick and easy way for Windows Hello to verify your identity without the need for a password.
For upgrades and servicing, Acer has made it easy with the laptop’s detachable service door underneath. The convenient access to the internal components save time and will keep your workflow running smooth.
CONCLUSION
The Acer TravelMate X3310 is a portable laptop designed for business people and those working remotely.
It may be pricey at almost RM4,000 but its large selection of ports, durable design and stellar battery life make up for it, along with its excellent performance.
And with military testing standards, this laptops translates to durability and reliability for the long run.
