AN epic saga 11 years in the making, Avengers:

Endgame, is finally hitting Malaysian shores today, bringing an end to the first phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The movie, the second part of the Infinity Gauntlet saga, is long awaited by Malaysians, since the MCU introduced its first movie

Iron Man in 2008.

Diehard Marvel fans are all geared up to watch the film, with some planning to attend the screening in full superhero costumes.

Muhammad Azuan Norazam, better known as A’an Radke on his YouTube channel, plans to wear a full Spider-Man costume during the Avengers: Endgame movie screening.

“I have been waiting for this moment my whole life because I want to wear a full costume during the Endgame screening.

“Other Marvel fans will be doing the same which will make things more lively,” said the 25year-old from Damansara.

Azuan said Spider-Man had always been his favourite character.

“He’s been my favourite Marvel superhero since I was 5 because Spider-Man, or his alias Peter Parker, has good traits.”

“Peter Parker is a cool, geeky and funny teenager who has a sense of enthusiasm and spirit.”

He said the Spider-Man costume he would be wearing to the screening would be the Spiderman: Homecoming version, which features Spidey’s traditional red and blue colours, which he bought online.

He also has another SpiderMan costume, which is the Iron Spider version, seen in Avengers: Infinity War.

Azuan said he had “studied” ahead of the movie, which he will be watching on the opening day at E-Curve in Mutiara Damansara.

“Right after the announcement of the Avengers: Endgame movie date, I prepared myself by watching all of he MCU movies in

chronological order to digest everything that I need to recap before Endgame.”

Meanwhile, another Malaysian Marvel fan is taking the villain route.

Abdullah Othman, a prominent cosplayer who goes by the name Abudora, will attend the screening as Loki, albeit the Thor: Ragnarok version.

Abdullah, 30, is hoping that Loki, who died in Avengers: Infinity

War, will make a comeback.

“I am excited about the movie and I hope Loki lives on. This movie will make a huge impact on the franchise and fandom in general.

“It will open up many possibilities. They may continue to make more movies related to the previous trilogy, more new characters may be added as well.

“And from a cosplayer’s perspective, more characters mean more cosplays,” said Abdullah, who is from Kuala Lumpur.

Abdullah has been up and about doing promotional work for the movie with some of his friends for about a week.

“I have been helping out GSC Cinemas with their promotional roadshows for Endgame together with my other cosplay friends around Malaysia.

“I have also been upgrading my cosplay costume and making a few costumes for my friends,” said Abdullah, who makes his own costumes.

Another cosplayer, Tai Zoe Yi, 19 will be garbed in full Scarlet Witch (Civil War and Infinity War versions) costume for the screening.

“I will be cosplaying as Scarlet Witch for the premiere as she is my favourite MCU character.

“She has also been a favourite character of mine in the comics as well,” said the student from Bandar Utama.

Tai, however, is apprehensive over the fate of her favourite characters.

“Honestly, I have mixed feelings about Endgame. I am not prepared to witness the fate of my favourite heroes and heroines.

“It will be difficult to accept the fact to move on but, overall, I am hyped about the movie.”

Tai said she and her friends went on a MCU movie marathon in preparation for the movie and to review what had happened so far.

“We are all geeks. Although I’ve watched all the movies and remember how the stories went, I want to prepare myself for

Endgame and know everything,” she said. Avengers: Endgame hits the silver screen today in all major cinemas nationwide.
