From the Genting great sale to a durian festival, Batman and acrobatics galore, there is so much going on at Resorts World Genting, writes Emily Jessinta

WHETHER you’re with your family or friends or simply just spending time on your own, there’s a little something for everyone this school holidays at Resorts World Genting, located 50km from the Kuala Lumpur city centre.

Resorts World Genting has prepared a host of activities and experience­s for people of all ages to ensure a wonderful and magnificen­t time for everyone.

From now until September, there is an array of happenings for all to enjoy.

For instance, the Skytropoli­s Indoor Theme Park promises endless fun for everyone.

The Awana SkyWay cable car also allows visitors to “fly” up to the SkyAvenue Station at the peak.

Besides mouth-watering delicacies, one will be rewarded with gorgeous views of the highlands and, of course, the chilly weather.

There is also a series of events including the Genting Great Sale, Genting’s Highland Heroes Adventurou­s Holiday, Batman’s 80th anniversar­y, Imaginatri­cks and 2019 Genting Durian Festival that Resorts World Genting.

GENTING GREAT SALE

If there’s one thing we Malaysians love to do, it has to be shopping. Get your retail therapy fix at the Genting Great Sale that is offering discounts up to 70 per cent and exclusive redemption­s at more than 420 participat­ing outlets.

Now on until June 9, the Genting Great Sales umbrella covers outlets at Genting Highlands Premium Outlets, SkyAvenue, First World Plaza and Awana SkyCentral.

Spanning the entire spectrum of retail from high end to pret-a-porter, mainstream to accessible luxury, the sale encompasse­s a variety of stores like Adidas, Hugo Boss, Superdry, Michael Kors, Furla and many more at Genting Highlands Premium Outlets and SkyAvenue.

HEROES ADVENTOUR HOLIDAY

In between your shopping spree, get to know Resorts World Genting’s new mascots — Genting’s Highland Heroes, Tabby the tiger, Allie the Elephant, Joe the Orangutan, Geno the Dinosaur, Benny the Entertaine­r and Callie the Dragon.

The Genting’s Highland Heroes are out to give visitors a fantastic treat daily until June 30 at the Skytropoli­s Indoor Theme Park and special events at the Pavilion titled the Genting’s Highland Heroes Adventurou­s Holiday.

Step into the illuminate­d forest at the Pavilion foyer of SkyAvenue where the lovable heroes live in their natural habitat with the stories of their adventures.

2019 GENTING DURIAN FESTIVAL

Another thing we Malaysians love is durian! This glorious celebratio­n of durian brings together three of Malaysia’s most prestigiou­s durian orchards from now until Sept 16, taking place from noon to 10pm daily at the Boulevard, Genting Grand Outdoor Carpark.

Fans of the fruit from around the region get to choose their durian from the most famous orchards like Durian Republic from Penang, Weng Fatt Orchard Trading from Raub, Pahang and the local champion, May Jie Gohtong Trading from Gohtong Jaya.

You can expect to sample delicious durians ranging from XO, Tekka, D24, Musang King, Red Prawn and Black Thorn varieties, along with other durian delicacies like ice cream and cendol and other in-season fruits like mangosteen and rambutan.

The world-famous Fatimah Product Enterprise from Malacca, known for its extravagan­t Kelapa Lambung display in Jonker Street, is present to sell its refreshing coconuts.

IMAGINATRI­CKS

If you’re looking for something to get your heart racing and your adrenaline pumping, Imaginatri­cks is the show for you.

Expect an astounding, action-packed show fusing tricks, acrobatics, dance and comedy.

With daily shows at 8pm except for Sunday at 4pm from now until to May next year, the variety show promises to be a roller-coaster ride of jaw-dropping stunts and spectacula­r feats.

This variety show brings together some of the world’s greatest performers in an hour-long spectacula­r.

Prepare to be astounded by the circus and comedy talents of Ukrainian comedian, Oleksii Krasnyhk, ice skating champions Aleksander Popov and Elena Efaeva, the basketball acrobatics of Hungary’s sports theatrer group Face Team and the awardwinni­ng Colombian acrobat troupe The Gerlings.

CELEBRATE 80 YEARS OF BATMAN

The Caped Crusader is here! Celebrate the 80th anniversar­y of comic superhero and media icon Batman, the Dark Knight at the SkySymphon­y stage until July 10.

Titled The Call Is Out, the world’s first Batman audio-visual show showcases their heroic tales and history of the Bat Family and their memorable villians like the Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, Riddler and more in an epic show on SkySymphon­y’s massive 360-degree wraparound LED screens and 1,001 winch balls display system set to a pulsing soundtrack.

A live song-and-dance theatrical production, Batman & Robin vs The Joker, takes place three times a day on selected dates followed by a meet-andgreet session.

Fans of the Dark Knight can also snap photos with life-sized statues of Batman and one-to-one replicas of the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman film and the 2017 Justice League film.
