UDA Cares for the community

-

JOHOR BARU: UDA Holdings Bhd (UDA), a renowned property development and asset management company, launched its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to help the local community.

The CSR programme called UDA Cares, was launched in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House organised by its subsidiaries UDA Land South Sdn Bhd and Angsana Johor Bahru Mall.

During the launch, four categories under the new CSR programme were introduced, namely UDA Cares-Educational, UDA Cares-Entrepreneur, UDA CaresProject RE and UDA Cares-Enriching Life.

UDA acting chief executive officer Zahrin Zakaria said for UDA CaresEducational, UDA aimed to get closer to the younger generation especially the pupils in an effort to empower the local community through education.

He said the initiative would be done via an adopted schools programme which was chosen around UDA business areas in Johor, Penang, Perak, Pahang, Terengganu and Selangor.

"Besides that, UDA Cares-Entrepreneur augurs well with UDA’s role as an agency under the Entrepreneur Development Ministry and this programme was introduced to spur entrepreneurship activities around UDA business areas,” he said.

Zahrin said to enliven the local community lifestyle, the UDA Cares-Project RE would give focus on value addition to the local communities around the UDA development areas with emphasis on community, environment and health.

“Through UDA Cares-Enriching Life, UDA would get close to the underprivileged community especially the asnaf, who are eligible to receive the tithe. UDA will pay the tithe to Pusat Pungutan Zakat Wilayah Persekutuan and some of those will also be given to UDA for distribution to the identified underprivileged group,” he said.

Also present were state housing, communication, and multimedia committee chairman Dzulkefly Ahmad, UDA board of directors Ar Mohamad Subki Ahmad, UDA asset management group chief operation officer Datuk Ahmad Tajuddin Mohamed and UDA property development group chief operation officer Noor Azmi Salleh.

Zahrin said as a company which always strives for a balance in the business environment, the company believed in going to the ground to help the local community.

“This would help us to build a good rapport with our subsidiaries and local community. We hope this ongoing effort would achieve its objectives,” he said.
