Townsend enlists help of goal ‘guru’

-

LONDON: Andros Townsend has enlisted the help of England striker coach Allan Russell in a bid to gatecrash Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 plans.

The Crystal Palace winger has booked in summer sessions with the striker specialist ahead of rejoining Roy Hodgson’s squad for pre-season next month.

Before every pre-season Townsend seeks advice from conditioning and football experts to ensure he is in peak shape for the start of the campaign.

Sportsmail understands Southgate is considering handing Townsend a recall for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Montenegro in March.

 BOURNEMOUTH have slapped a £25 million (RM131.8 million) price tag on Ryan Fraser to ward off suitors.

The Scotland winger is attracting interest from Arsenal, who view Fraser as an alternative to No 1 target Wilfried Zaha.

But the valuation could prove a stumbling block to Fraser leaving this summer, particularly as he will be available on a free transfer next year when his contract runs out.

Fraser provided 14 assists for Bournemouth last season.

 ANDRE Gomes will become Everton’s first summer signing after they agreed a £25 million deal with Barcelona.

Veteran left back Leighton Baines has signed a 12-month contract extension but striker Nikola Vlasic looks set to make his loan at CSKA Moscow permanent in a £14 million move.

 JOHN Terry has signed a contract extension at Aston Villa to remain as assistant head coach.

The 38-year-old, who helped Villa return to the Premier League last month, had 12 months left on his existing deal but will now remain at the club until 2021.

The new deal ends rumours of Terry replacing former Chelsea team-mate Frank Lampard at Derby should he replace Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.
