Six days ago, a photo of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin AlMustafa Billah Shah queueing up at the Temerloh Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) outlet went viral, leaving many in awe.

Yesterday, he once again showed why he is the king of people’s hearts.

In a series of three photos released by Istana Negara’s Instagram account, the king, wearing a black suit, was seen extending a helping hand to an accident victim here.

He was on his way to Istana Melawati for a precabinet meeting with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad when his motorcade came across the accident involving a Perodua Alza.

Victim, Jasliza Jamil, 38, escaped unhurt.

The photos were captioned:

“Alhamdulillah, the victim, Puan Jasliza Jamil, was not seriously injured. Al-Sultan Abdullah has continued his journey to attend the pre-cabinet meeting with the prime minister at Istana Melawati here.”

Nine hours after uploading, they had garnered over 10,000 likes and over 400 comments.

Putrajaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Rosly Hasan said the accident occurred at Persiaran Barat Lebuh Sentosa, Putrajaya at 7.20am, when Jasliza was believed to have lost control of her car.

She did not suffer any serious injury. Investigations revealed that the driver was from Gombak and on her way to work in Presint 2.

“She lost control of the car due to rainy weather and hit the side railing of the road before landing on the divider.

“As soon as the accident happened, the royal convoy, which was passing by the same road, stopped and His Majesty got down from the car to check on the victim.

“Al-Sultan Abdullah is definitely caring and a people’s ruler,” said Rosly, adding that the case was being investigated under Rule 10 LN 166/59 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959.
