TRANSITION RUMOURS HURTING PAKATAN

-

PEOPLE should stop perpetuating claims by politicians and political analysts who think that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will not honour his promise to pass on the baton to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Despite the former’s repeated assurances on the matter, the talks have persisted. I have no doubt that Dr Mahathir will keep his promise. Those who say otherwise are hurting the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

If this is not stopped, it could sow distrust in PH.

PH needs loyal and supportive members.

Infighting must be quelled so that lawmakers can concentrate on governing the country.

Otherwise, this could jeopardise the nation’s political and economic wellbeing.

Rocking the boat is irresponsible and unwise.

We must respect one another and put the interest of the nation above all else.

Dr Mahathir is not a political novice. During his first premiership, he steered the nation through tempestuous climates, managed the country’s economy to realise its potential and reduced the nation’s debts to a manageable level.

He had put Malaysia on the world map, and leaders of developed nations have the highest respect for him, although some are not fond of his acerbic manner and wit.

The Malaysian political scene is at a vulnerable point, where a slight opening in the political sandbags, supposedly to shield it from enemy fire, can cause damage to people’s reputation and scar them for life.

I hope the PH government will work cohesively, putting the nation’s interests first. DRTANENGBEE Kajang, Selangor
