PERFECT START TO SPURS’ SUMMER DEALS
Tottenham set to sign Ndombele, Clarke for RM368 million
TOTTENHAM are closing in on a £70 million (RM368 million) double deal for Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele and Leeds prospect Jack Clarke.
Spurs are on the verge of ending their year-long pursuit of France midfielder Ndombele after agreeing a package in the region of a club-record £60 million.
Having been keen on Ndombele in the previous two windows, Mauricio Pochettino has made his capture one of his
top priorities.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said: “He is seeking a departure. We don’t have to sell but if there’s a big offer the door isn’t closed.
An £8.5 million deal for winger Clarke, 18, is also close, while Tottenham plan to accelerate their move for Ryan Sessegnon, too.
Fulham have offered him an extension, but the 19-year-old has no intention of signing it. Borussia Dortmund are also interested. Fulham feel Sessegnon is worth £45 million, while Spurs want to pay closer to £25 million. AIDY BOOTHROYD will hold talks with Gareth Southgate as the FA look for answers after a disappointing summer. England’s Under-21 squad returned home from Italy yesterday after an early exit from the European Championship.
The first stage of the postmortem will take place at St George’s Park today when Boothroyd, who signed a twoyear contract extension last month, and his coaching staff reconvene. DAVE REDDIN will leave his role as the FA’s head of team strategy and performance at the end
of the year.
AGENT Willie McKay, 60, has been charged with two counts of fraudulent transfer of property. He is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on July 31 after an investigation by the Insolvency Service.
If found guilty, he could face two years in prison.
ARSENAL will make an improved £19 million offer for Celtic left back Kieran Tierney. The 22year-old is a top target for Unai Emery and the Scotland international is keen on the move. Celtic have knocked back a £15 million bid. LEICESTER CITY are close to finalising a £6 million deal for Luton right back James Justin.
Aston Villa and Stoke were also in for Justin, 21, whose transfer fee will rise with add-ons.
LIVERPOOL expect to sign Dutch centre back Sepp van den Berg, 17, from PEC Zwolle for £1.79 million.
EVERTON have completed the £22 million signing of Andre Gomes from Barcelona.
