SULTAN OF SELANGOR’S CUP GETS RM1.3M
15 sponsors show their support for prestigious tournament
THE Sultan of Selangor’s Cup on Aug 24 has so far received RM1.3 million in sponsorship.
Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah received mock cheques from 15 sponsors at Istana Alam Shah in Klang yesterday.
Among those who attended were Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari and Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo.
The sponsors are Tanjung Balai Group, Kingsley Seeds Foundation, Selangor State Treasury, PKNS, Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB), KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd, Rasniaga Sdn Bhd, Everspring Land Sdn Bhd, Ecoworld Development Group Berhad, Splash Sdn Bhd, MBI, Kumpulan Semesta, Nirvana Memorial Park, Aiman Platinum Sdn Bhd and Setia Awan Group.
Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) is the official broadcaster while Berita Harian and The Star are the official media partners.
“The support from our sponsors proves that the Sultan of Selangor’s Cup is a prestigious event,” said tournament chairman Tan Sri Abd Karim Munisar.
Selangor coach B. Satiananthan said he will field his best players, including some from PKNS FC, for the match against Singapore.
“The majority of players, however, will come from Selangor’s Super League side,” he said.
Veteran Amri Yahyah is determined to help Selangor win the title for the ninth time.
Selangor were champions in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2018.
“I have played many times for Selangor in the Sultan of Selangor’s Cup. I want to win it because it will bring joy to Tuanku since this is his idea,” said Amri.
Tickets are priced at RM10. Ticket holders are eligible for the lucky draw with the top prizes being a Harley Davidson 833 Iron and a Honda City.
Fans can purchase tickets at all Uncle K outlets in SACC Mall in Shah Alam, Paradigm Mall in Kelana Jaya and Cyberjaya from next month. Tickets will also be available at the Shah Alam Stadium on match day.
