TH IT team working hard to ensure smooth haj operations

-

PUTRAJAYA: Personnel from the Tabung Haji (TH) information technology team are working hard to make sure all computers, Internet and communication networks run smoothly for this year’s haj operations.

TH Information Technology (IT) Division operation director Za’aba Arpan said 10 out of 17 designated IT employees reached Saudi Arabia on June 23.

They were conducting maintenance service on more than 800 computer equipment and the Internet, as well as communication network for haj operations in Makkah, Madinah and Jeddah, he said.

“We are putting in place the final details before the arrival of 30,200 Malaysian pilgrims to the holy land for this year’s haj.

“Operational work began early this year to make sure all preparations were completed before the pilgrims arrive,” he said yesterday.

Malaysian pilgrims will begin arriving at the holy land in stages, from July 4 onwards.

He said the IT Division had been conducting test runs on main system applications, including the Haj and Deposit System, as well as the Health Information (Sihat) System involving the medical team.

Others are the Integrated System which will provide statistics of the pilgrims for operational needs and the Haj Mobility System to keep track of their movements.

Za’aba said improvements were being made this year, such as upgrading the network system at TH Hospital to fibre optics.

“We are also improving the Sihat System based on last year’s operations feedback and building ‘Room System’ application to allocate rooms to the pilgrims.
