DON’T BE LEFT HANGING HIGH AND DRY

HAVE my reason for choosing this title as I do not want you to be among those who took up coaching programmes and ended up “lonely” because their training providers did not support their learning once it was over.

So here are some important informatio­n before you invest in any coaching programme to avoid being left hanging high and dry!

The People Who Invest In Coaching

Many types of people take up coaching courses. Generally, they fall into 3 types. The first is the very serious-minded and far-sighted ones who carefully choose their coaching schools to ensure what they invest in will serve them well both in the immediate and future.

The second type is also serious-minded but not as farsighted as the first type as they are usually very concerned about the course fees and the time needed to complete the course.

There is the third type of people who are usually the short-term ones who go more for the “quick fixes”. They are lesser bothered about the quality of the coaching education as their focus is to go for the cheapest and the fastest way to get it done.

Impact Of Their Buying Decisions

The way these 3 types of people base their buying decisions somewhat affects how they turn out as coaches.

Of the three types, it is usually the first type who will emerge to become good coaches because they take the right path to register with very good coaching schools to earn world-class credential­s from them. They also become capable coaches because they are the products of very good learning methods that tune them up with high capabiliti­es. Not only this, they can continue to improve as these coaching schools have very strong support infrastruc­tures that take care of them for life even though they have completed their programmes there.

The second type may be quite safe as there are reasonably good coaching schools around. However, they may face some disappoint­ments as they may not be able to move up their profession­al standing because many of them offer limited coaching programmes. So what it means is they might have to go elsewhere to continue their studies, which can be disruptive as the syllabus may be different and more importantl­y, their coaching qualificat­ions may not be fully recognised, hence giving them few exemptions for continuati­on. This means extra time and extra cost. This is a case of being left high and dry.

The third type of people faces the worst nightmare of them all. A coaching qualificat­ion that is totally unrecognis­ed with substandar­d coach-learning that gives them no good coaching skill they can use to earn a living. Worse still, they are totally neglected as there is no help or support to give them after the programme. So it is back to square one, maybe even worse off. Another case of being left high and dry.

Some Good Advice

There is no short-cut to good education, whether it is coaching or any other. All coaches must always remember the coaching skills you have acquired and your time spent and money invested on it can end up in ashes if you are lured by other short-term factors. Do not let your coaching dream or passion end up in smoke and be left hanging high and dry.
