CROSSING BOUNDARIES
The annual “people’s choice awards” is sponsored by cosmetics company Alha Alfa for the second year and electronic payment service company DuitNow has come on board as co-sponsor.
Nominations for the categories began on July 15 and ended on Aug 14. The category winners will be decided by Berita Harian readers from Aug 20 to Sept 15.
All of the nominees are artistes whose works were produced between January and December 2018.

Berita Harian executive editor for commercial and current affairs and ABPBH 32 organising chairman Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman said in line with this year’s theme Melangkaui Sempadan (Crossing Boundaries), the awards had added two new categories for fans of Indonesian and Korean music.
“We’ve got lots of fans of Indonesian pop and Korean pop today, so we’ve decided to have them pick their favourites in ABPBH.
“After 32 years of honouring the country’s most popular entertainers, it’s time to introduce new developments which keep up with the times,” he said.
The ceremony was also attended by Media Prima Television Networks Chief Executive Officer Johan Ishak, Berita Harian’s entertainment editor and deputy organising chairman Shamshul Azree Samshir, Alha Alfa Cosmetics’ founder Datuk Abdul Al Halim Mohd Al Fadzil, and Payments Network Malaysia’s (PayNet) Group Chief Executive Officer Peter Schiesser.
Ahmad Zaini said: “We constantly improve ABPBH in line with fan feedback, and this time we’re also changing the titles of some categories to reflect the sponsors. For example, the Popular TV Actor and Actress categories come with brand Alha Alfa, and the Popular Male and Female Singer categories come with brand DuitNow. And we never forget the legends of Malaysian entertainment, whom we honour with the Lifetime Achievement Award.”
He also said that the top award for Most Popular Artiste was only reserved for Malaysian artistes.
ABPBH 32 will be broadcast live on TV3 from the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) at 9pm on Sept 22.The nominated artistes recently had a roadshow at Komtar JBCC in Johor Baru on Aug 3. They will meet and greet fans in Aman Central, Alor Star tommorow.
