Selangor cops bust two drug rings, detain 4

SHAH ALAM: Selangor police crippled two drug syndicates and seized an assortment of drugs worth RM575,892 in two separate raids on Wednesday.

The 8.30pm and 10.30pm raids were carried out in Klang and Batu Caves by the Selangor Narcotics Criminal Investigat­ion Department and Gombak’s Criminal Investigat­ion Department respective­ly, said state police chief Datuk Noor Azam Jamaludin.

In the Klang raid, he said two men, aged 28 and 21, were picked up at a five-foot way of an apartment complex for possessing 9,900 pills, believed to be Erimin 5, packed in aluminium foils.

“The duo led investigat­ors to a unit where various types of drugs were stored. A 36-year-old Thai woman, who is the girlfriend of one of the suspects, was subsequent­ly arrested.

“In the unit, she handed over 93 packets of ecstasy powder weighing 1.3kg that was stored in a fridge. In a paper bag, there were 959g of ecstasy powder, 366 ecstasy pills, 113 WY pills (pil kuda or yaba pills) and 37g of ketamine.

“Our analysis showed that the Erimin 5, ecstasy and WY pills can be supplied to 10,379 drug addicts.

“In Selangor alone, the pills could be used by 1,202 drug addicts for nine days. The ecstasy powder can be supplied to 157 drug addicts, assuming that 15g is used in a day.

“The total drug haul is worth RM450,335,” said Noor Azam at the Selangor police headquarte­rs here yesterday.

Present was Klang Selatan police chief Assistant Commission­er Shamsul Amar Ramli.

Noor Azam said the police also seized RM80,800 cash, two Toyota Vios valued at RM50,000, five handphones worth RM12,400 and jewellery worth RM20,000.

He said the trio have been remanded for seven days from Thursday and were being investigat­ed under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

In the Gombak raid, Noor Azam said police arrested a 23-year-old lorry attendant and seized drugs worth RM125,557 from a flat and in a Proton Waja.

Noor Azam said 36 packets of ganja weighing 37.2kg, 187.5g of syabu and 46.5g of heroin were seized.

The suspect, who had no criminal records was remanded for seven days from Thursday.
