THE parents of a month-old baby girl is appealing for public donations so that the infant can undergo surgery.

At three days old, Putri Irdina Ahamad Maududi was diagnosed with interrupted aortic arch and ventricular septal deformity, commonly known as hole in the heart. She needs RM60,000 for a surgery to be done at Gleneagles Hospital here.

Siti Akma Ahmad, 27, and her husband, Ahamad Maududi Zawawi, 28 said their daughter was in critical condition and needed to undergo surgery immediately.

“Doctors said Putri was breathing rapidly right after delivery. On the second day, she developed jaundice. Then, doctors diagnosed her with two serious health problems: blocked blood vessels in her legs and hole in the heart.

“I was shocked when I was told about her conditions. I did not experience any complications during the pregnancy.”

The couple lives in Terengganu but is currently staying at Siti Akma’s sister’s house in Shah Alam.

“We go to the hospital on a motorcycle every day as it is cheaper than taking a Grab ride,” Siti Akma said, adding that they could not afford the surgery with a household income of only RM2,200.

Donors can send cheques made payable to the Media Prima-NSTP Humanitarian Fund, with the patient’s name written on the reverse side, to the Group Corporate Communications Department, Media Prima Berhad, Level 1, Anjung Riong, Balai Berita, 31 Jalan Riong, 59100 Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

Donors can also deposit donations into the Maybank current account 5141-05323170 and indicate the patient’s name under the “recipient’s reference” or “other payment details” field.
