PERAK SEDC’S future is still uncertain but the club are least affected by it as their focus is on today’s Malaysia Cup quarter-final first leg battle against Kedah at the Manjung Stadium.

Abu Bakar Fadzim’s side were the last team to confirm their spot in the last eight.

Perak SEDC’s Group B match against PJ City FC was rescheduled twice after several players from K. Devan’s team came down with the flu.

On Sunday, Perak SEDC thrashed PJ City 3-0 in Manjung to finish second in their group.

There are rumours that Perak SEDC will be turned into a feeder club for Perak next year.

Despite the uncertain future, Perak SEDC players want to prove a point and do their talking on the pitch.

“Maybe there is a chance for us to remain in operation following our good run in the Malaysia Cup,” Abu Bakar explained.

“Our recent fine performances prove we are still eager to play in the Super League next season.

“I feel the club are doing good across the board. Our President’s Cup team managed to reach the quarter-finals this year, which shows we are also doing good in development.

“It would be a shame if all those are discarded if the status of the club is changed. You can see we don’t give up, despite the stories that we would become a feeder club next year.

“We want to show the right signals by earning good results. The goal is to save this team.”

On today’s match against Kedah, Abu Bakar said his side will try to give the former champions a tough time.

“We are not in the competition just to make the numbers. The dream is to keep challenging ourselves against tough teams such as Kedah.

“The club have been doing well at home in this competition, so hopefully, we can continue that.

“Most of our players have never played at this stage of the competition.

“It will be a good learning curve but we will not be overawed. We will fight until the end,” he added.
