CJ WOW TO UNLOCK MOBILE POTENTIAL

Company taps 15 celebrities to attract more online shoppers

INNOVATIVE home shopping network CJ WOW Shop expects to see an increase in mobile transactions.

Chief executive officer Kim Yang-hyun said the firm expected a steady shift towards mobile shopping.

“Over the years, we have built an extensive presence on television, which has allowed CJ WOW to dominate the Malaysian home shopping space by capitalising on the nation’s most-watched TV channels.

“We recognise the need to rise as a strong multi-platform network, in which continued investments and efforts have been placed in order to improve our online and mobile channels,” he said in a statement.

TV and call-centre orders contribute to 55 per cent of CJ WOW’s average daily transactions, with the remaining from online and mobile sources.

Last month, CJ WOW grew its mobile app downloads by 150 per cent from a year ago.

Kim said the mobile space had untapped potential and the firm was ready to unlock it.

“As we move towards achieving one million mobile app downloads in the coming weeks, we will also be having campaigns to encourage people to use it.”

CJ WOW’s focus on mobile commerce is supported by the launch of the “WOW Je!” campaign to diversify its customer base while incentivising shoppers to carry out mobile transactions.

The campaign will see 15 celebrity show hosts giving away promo codes, with first-time CJ WOW mobile app users entitled to a RM20 voucher each.

They will be rallying for support on the social media to curate the top five highest-spending customers of the month.

The winners will get to spend an exclusive “WOW Day Out” with the top-performing show hosts.
