Dr M vows to bow out by next general election

-

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he would bow out as prime minister before the next general election.

Dr Mahathir, 94, became prime minister for the second time following Pakatan Harapan’s victory in the 2018 general election.

“I promise that I will step down before the next election and give way to another candidate.

“So I may have at the most three years perhaps,” he said at a dialogue at the Council on Foreign Relations here on Thursday.

Dr Mahathir said he needed to accomplish a few things within the three years.

He said work was very tough now and he was working 18 hours a day.

“This is because I don’t have much time.”

Dr Mahathir is here to attend the 74th United Nations General Assembly.
