Samsung may build 9th plant in Vietnam
Samsung Electronics Co is studying the possibility of building another factory in northern Vietnam, the South Korean electronics giant’s key production base, said a local official yesterday. “Samsung is looking to lease 500-1,000ha in Hoa Binh province to build a factory to produce electronics products,” said a senior official. Samsung, which has invested US$17.3 billion (RM72.1 billion) in eight factories and a research and development centre in Vietnam, is the country’s largest single foreign investor and accounts for one-fifth of total exports.
