Perak expo to boost B2B, B2G opportunities
KUALA LUMPUR: The Perak government will host the largest integrated trade exposition, Perak International Trade Exposition (PIEX) to boost Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Government (B2G) opportunities for Perakians.
PIEX, an inaugural exposition organised by the state, is expected to provide Perak-based businesses a leverage through business matching activities, seminars, products showcase and networking sessions to gather insights on the current trends, strategies and innovations, as well as digitalised technologies.
The four-day expo will be held from Nov 14 to Nov 17 at the Indera Mulia Stadium in Ipoh. More than 300 local and international exhibitors will participate in the event.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the exposition targeted the B2B and B2G market to promote the state as the top choice for trade and investment partners.
“It represents a platform to boost trade, business, investment and economic opportunities among domestic and global industry players.
“The event will focus on economic sectors, such as manufacturing, tourism, construction, education, electronics and electrical, natural resources sector, property investment, transportation and the automotive industry,” he said in a speech read by Perak Executive Council Committee chairman for Investment and Corridor Development Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin at the PIEX 2019 official launch ceremony the Matrade Exhibition Convention Centre yesterday.
Nizar is also the PIEX Organising Committee chairman, who was appointed to lead and ensure the success of the event.
Present at the launch was Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Dr Ong Kian Ming, State Youth and Sports Development Committee chairman Howard Lee and InvestPerak Malaysia chief executive officer Sayed Shariffuddin Sayed Shamshuddin.
At least 30,000 visitors are expected to attend the expo, which is aimed at fulfilling the vision and mission outlined in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Plan.
“This is inline with government’s Shared Prosperity Vision (SPV2030) blueprint meant to encourage development towards a competitive and inclusive society to make us a high-income nation,” he added.
Meanwhile, Nizar said the event would see the participation of major Perak-based manufacturers, small- and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) and foreign investors from countries such as China, Japan, India, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
“The expo is a good platform for business expansion and to make new connections for future ventures into new markets.”
Apart from the trade exhibition from key industries, Nizar said the PIEX would bring together government agencies and departments to provide the latest information on investment opportunities and policies and to facilitate direct engagement with investors.
PIEX is co-organised by InvestPerak and Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce, supported by Perak Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Perak Indian Chamber of Commerce, Malaysian Chamber of Commerce, National Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia, Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (Perak).
There are five component events running in parallel during PIEX 2019. They are the Pangkor Dialogue, International Trade and Investment Expo, Perak Startup Festival, Perak Halal Expo, and the Perak-Indian Trade and Investment Convention.
“A key highlight of PIEX will be the Pangkor Dialogue, an international conference held concurrently with PIEX, which will feature knowledgeable and influential speakers and guests representing diverse sectors to share their insights and expertise on issues impacting the world to enhance industry knowledge among peers and industry players.
“PIEX will also feature international industry players, such as Vale, Perak’s largest foreign investor which will be take part as the event’s Platinum sponsor.”
