Safawi: I’m more handsome than Sumareh

-

A VAIN Safawi Rasid believes he is among the top-five most handsome footballers in the national team.

The Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) forward disagreed with national teammate Mohamadou Sumareh’s view about his looks.

In a recent Timesport article, Sumareh labelled Safawi as the least good looking footballer in the Harimau Malaya squad.

In response, Safawi, who was picked as last season’s best player in the M-League, jokingly said the Gambia-born Sumareh was, in fact, the least good looking player in the team.

“I think he (Sumareh) is funny, and I consider it a joke.

“I mean it’s not impossible that he would think I am the least (handsome). I think he’s the last one because I consider myself in the top-10 bracket… no, the top five.” he said.

Safawi, a former sepak takraw player, also touched on an incident in June when Sumareh played a prank by stowing a rotten fish in his room, which he shared with Akhyar Rashid, during the World Cup first-round qualifier against Timor Leste.

“He (Sumareh) hid a (rotten) fish in our room, and we did not realise it until it (our room) started to stink. We did not know what it was.”

“Then, he came into our room and asked whether the room had a foul smell. When we said ‘yes’, he showed us the rotten ‘keli’ fish that he hid in the room.

“Let me think first how to get even with him. It could be something like what I did to Aidil (Zafuan Radzak) recently.”

Last week, Safawi meticulously planned a payback on Aidil who had covered the 22-year-old car’s with the FA of Malaysia logo.

“Watch it on YouTube, if you want to know what I did to him,” said Safawi, who got his revenge when he covered Aidil’s car with curry powder.
