PKR ‘veteran’ joins the campaign

-

Rahim Hitam, 52, is no stranger to by-elections.

The Seksyen 7 Shah Alam resident, who is a diehard PKR member, has participated in at least nine election campaigns to help PKR secure victory at the polls.

Given his wealth of experience, he believed that the upcoming Tanjung Piai by-election would boil down to a battle between red and blue (Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional).

Rahim, who is in Tanjung Piai as part of the party’s election campaign staff, is giving his full support to PH candidate Karmaine Sardini, 66, from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Rahim said he had been in Tanjung Piai for the past three weeks to help with the election campaign.

“My party colleagues and I arrived by bus three weeks ago. We’ll be working here until voting day on Nov 16. My mission is to help the Tanjung Piai PKR division in lending support to the PH candidate.”

Rahim, who is a member of PKR’s Ranting Shah Alam branch, said he had taken part in nine election campaigns.

“These include the by-elections in Cameron Highlands, Rantau, Semenyih, Seri Setia, Sungai Kandis and Balakong.” He is proud of the fact that PH had won many of the elections he had been a part of.

Rahim believed the winning formula for any party was to understand their constituents better and listen to their problems, as well as to meet people from all levels of the community.

“The most important thing is the personal touch and to have a never-say-die attitude.”
