Karmaine vows to continue former MP’s good work
PONTIAN: Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Tanjung Piai byelection Karmaine Sardini has pledged to continue the good work of former member of parliament Datuk Dr Md Farid Md Rafik in the constituency.
He said he would ensure that all projects planned by the late MP would be realised.
“Yes, for sure. No need to ask again. Once I’m elected, Insyaallah (God willing),” he said during a campaign programme in Tenggayun here yesterday.
Checks by the New Sunday
Times over the past week of campaigning revealed that most voters who chose Dr Farid in the last general election believed in his plans. They also said they preferred it if Karmaine could formally pledge to continue Dr Farid’s legacy.
Present at the programme was Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Redzuan Yusof, who gave his assurance that Dr Farid’s vision for Tanjung Piai would be continued.
“This will not be a problem. We will definitely work hand-inhand to ensure that all initiatives by Dr Farid will be realised,” he said.
Dr Farid, who was also the deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, died of heart complications on Sept 21.
