‘Let foreigners rent and ride big bikes’

KUALA LUMPUR: The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry will propose to the Transport Ministry to issue special permits to foreign tourists who want to rent and ride high-powered motorcycles. Ministry secretary-general Datuk Isham Ishak said foreign tourists were not allowed to rent and ride high-powered motorcycles even though they had the licence. “Perhaps with this initiative, we can help foreign bikers come to Malaysia to rent motorcycles and ride here, especially in the east coast and Borneo.” Isham was speaking at an event to stick the “Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020” logo stickers on high-powered motorcycles, organised by Motac and the DZ Big Bikes Club here yesterday. DZ Big Bikes Club president Datuk Zailan Mohamed said the move would boost the tourism industry.
