Iraqi street clashes kill 6, injure 100
BAGHDAD: Iraqi security forces moved on Saturday to take ground back from antigovernment demonstrators in Baghdad, forcing a confrontation that turned violent. The melee, which killed six people, followed blanket crackdowns in the southern city of Basra on Friday and in the shrine city of Karbala. As the government pushed to constrain the protests, the mounting casualties with more than 100 people injured could make that tactic backfire, and draw to the streets protesters who had begun to go home.
