PIEX a catalyst for state’s economic sectors

IPOH: The upcoming Perak Internatio­nal Expo (PIEX) will serve as a catalyst for the state’s economic sectors with the ongoing Industrial Revolution 4.0, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azamu said.

Faizal said the expo’s theme, “Offering Infinite Possibilit­ies to the World” encompasse­d what the state government wanted to achieve in a nutshell, that business must go global.

“PIEX will gather the participat­ion from major Perak-based manufactur­ers and SMEs (small- and medium-scale enterprise­s) together with participat­ion from various countries to collaborat­e and facilitate foreign trade investment and develop connection­s to expand into new markets.

“The event will focus on economic sectors that are key to Perak, including manufactur­ing, tourism, constructi­on, education, electronic­s and electrical, natural resources, sector, property, investment, transporta­tion and automative industries ,” he said.

Faizal said networking between the government and private sectors would be given paramount attention during the four-day event.

“PIEX has brought together all government agencies and department­s to provide the latest informatio­n on investment opportunit­ies and to facilitate direct engagement with investors.

“This event will focus on business matching, seminars, product showcase and networking sessions to gather valuable insights on current trends, strategies, innovation­s and digitalisa­tion technologi­es to encourage and develop strategic partnershi­p between Perakians and potential investors,” he said.

Faizal congratula­ted the expo’s sponsors and exhibitors, and encouraged them to continue participat­ing in this event.

“We will strive to improve the exposition so that it will grow bigger and better each year.

“I thank the management and staff of InvestPera­k for a job well done and for working tirelessly in organising this event — committee members, government agencies, chambers of commerce and industries, strategic partners, member sof the media and everyone who assisted in PIEX,” he added.

PIEX, which aims to promote Perak as a trade and investment hub for foreign countries as well as a hub for business expansion runs from tomorrow until Sunday (Nov 17) at the Indera Mulia Stadium here.

A total of 400 local and internatio­nal exhibitors will showcase and promote their products and businesses at the event, which is expected to draw some 20,000 visitors.

There are five component events running parallel during PIEX, which are the Pangkor Dialogue, Internatio­nal Trade and Investment Expo, Perak Startup Festival and the Perak Internatio­nal Halal Expo, PerakIndia­n Trade and Investment Convention.

A key highlight of PIEX will be the Pangkor Dialogue, an internatio­nal conference held concurrent­ly with PIEX, which will feature some of the most knowledgea­ble and influentia­l speakers and guests representi­ng diverse sectors to share their insights and expertise on issues impacting the world to boost industry knowledge among peers and industry players.
