Beijing women resorting to ‘marriage ruse’ for vice activities

-

KOTA BARU: China nationals have been found to use their temporary work passes to enter the country and marry locals as a modus operandi to engage in prostitution.

State Immigration Department enforcement chief Ruzaana Mohamed said marrying local men was a prerequisite to live in the country.

“The marriages are non-existent as they do not live together with their husbands. It is one of the conditions to stay here. The women are abusing their temporary work passes to provide sex services.”

On Thursday, a 56-year-old China national was arrested during Op Bersepadu (Jaja and Gegar) at a rented house in Jalan Kuala Krai here.

Ruzaana said the woman was servicing her client when Immigration officers raided the house.

She was arrested under Rule 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for abuse of pass or permit issued. She said the woman’s husband was in Kuala Lumpur and that the marriage was merely a ruse for the woman to work as a prostitute.

“We believe she entered the country in a group using a temporary working pass to provide sex services.”

In the same operation, two Pakistani men, aged 20 and 40, were arrested in Jalan Yahya Petra and Kampung Tapang here.

Both were detained under Rule 39 (b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.

All illegal immigrants were brought to the Tanah Merah Immigration Depot under Section 51(5)(b) of the Immigration Act for further action.
