AROUND 100 curator-worthy paintings have sprung up from Amira Daniea Saiful Amri’s imagination over the past four years.

And she is only 14.

Her mother, Dr Azlina Masdar, 45, who sells them for between RM400 and RM1,000 each, recently scored big when her acrylic painting of the Petronas Twin Towers was snagged by Danajamin Nasional Bhd for an undisclosed sum.

The Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia anesthesiologist said she felt a little tug whenever she sold one of Daniea’s originals, but convinced herself that it was all worth it.

Daniea is on the spectrum of autism and the money would be used for her tuition and the National Autism Society of Malaysia fees (Nasom).

Azalina was happy that the funds would be used for Danajamin’s Mighty Run (DMR) to raise funds for society.

The company picked her artwork for the T-shirt design to be used during the run in Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam on Dec 8.

Daniea is the second artist whose works were chosen to be featured.

Last year, Wan Jamila Wan Shaiful Bahri was chosen as the first artist Danajamin worked with.

The artist on the spectrum, also known as Artjamila, has catapulted to fame as her painting Unity in Diversity: Skyline Series 3 now adorns Putrajaya signages.

It was selected by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

She was appointed “Impact Artist 2019/2020” by an organisation in Switzerland, which commissioned artworks from her.

The painters and their mothers were met at a bash dubbed #feelthespectrum to promote their works at Sunway Putra Mall here yesterday.

Managing director and chief executive officer Mohamed Nazri Omar said DMR was one of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives where proceeds from the sale of the tickets would be handed to Nasom.

He said Danajamin had adopted autism awareness as its main CSR thrust and had supported Nasom for over six years.

Last year, it raised RM110,000 for Nasom.

About 2,500 people took part in DMR 2018, including corporate figures, parents of autistic children, autistic children and the public.
