Kelantan Gerakan offers 300 free mammograms

A total of 100 women from the B40 low-income group in Kelantan have signed up for a free mammogram screening programme in conjunctio­n with Internatio­nal Women’s Day. Gerakan women’s chief Chung Mon Sie said the programme, co-organised by Kelantan Gerakan and the National Cancer Society of Malaysia, was being held at KPJ Perdana Hospital here and limited to 300 women aged 40 and above. “So far

100 women including members of the party have registered for the screenings. Ten of them have completed the screening which resulted in one of them detected with a tumour and referred to Universiti Sains Malaysia hospital here.” She said the programme was a first for the party in an effort to raise awareness of early detection of cancer.
