Hektar Asset Management and Hektar Property Services has introduced new health and safety measures at all six shopping malls under Hektar REIT (real estate investment trust) as part of its commitment towards ensuring the safety of shoppers, employees and tenants during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We want to assure everyone that in times of uncertainty, our shopping centres will stay ahead of the curve and spare no effort in ensuring the health and safety of shoppers, employees and tenants,” said Hektar executive director and chief executive officer Datuk Hisham Othman in a statement recently.

The safety measures taken will follow the latest guidelines provided by the Health Ministry, World Health Organisation and Malaysia Shopping Malls Association.

To nip any potential health threat within its premises, the management has also put in place an updated set of procedures for external vendors as well as introduced emergency response procedures to tackle any possible live infection cases.

These include case management and escalation procedures, communication to the media, timely information to the public, control measures, collaboration with public health authorities and post-incident deep cleaning activities.

“We will continue to remain vigilant as the situation evolves,” said Hisham.
