-

PUTRAJAYA: The school session will not start tomorrow for students sitting Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia, Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia, Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia and Sijil Vokasional Malaysia examinations.

Education Ministry directorgeneral Dr Habibah Abdul Rahim said the ministry did not issue any statement on the reopening of schools on Monday as reported.

“It (the statement) was not from the Education Ministry,” she said yesterday.

The Education Ministry’s Corporate Communications Unit said the ministry would make an announcement as early as two weeks before school session began.

“As stated by Education Minister Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin before, the start of the school session will be informed two weeks earlier,” it said.

“And the school session is not resuming on Monday. There was no statement issued by the ministry after the announcement by the minister that day.”

Earlier, an English daily reported that a number of economic sectors and schools could reopen starting tomorrow after Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced the Conditional Movement Control Order.

On April 15, Radzi, at a press conference, presented the postMCO Management Schools Guidelines as the nation was facing the Covid-19 pandemic.

Radzi said the decision to restart the school session would be made only when the ministry was fully confident about the Covid-19 recovery rate in the country.
