City Hall to reopen public pools, sports facilities tomorrow

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall will reopen public amenities, including pools and sports facilities, under the recommended standard operating procedures starting tomorrow.

The five public swimming pools that would be open to the public again after more than three months are at the Desa Tasik Sports Complex, Bangsar Sports Complex, Vista Angkasa Sports Complex, Lembah Pantai Community Centre and Complex Renang KL.

City Hall yesterday said the operations of these public facilities would be subject to the new normal practices, including wearing face masks, observing social distancing and limiting the number of people allowed at one time.

“The maximum number of participants for activities like ping pong, badminton, tennis, basketball and gym usage is limited to 10.

“For games played on courts, only four players are permitted on court at any given time.

“For group participation — such as for futsal, netball and other games — a maximum of 10 persons is allowed, while group activities held at halls are limited to 20.”

Children below 12 and the elderly are discouraged from going to the courts for the time being.

City Hall said Pasar Borong Kuala Lumpur would be closed every Sunday starting from now to make way for weekly disinfection and cleaning works.

“Business operators are required to empty their stalls the day before and not leave any vegetable or food item at their stalls for safety reasons.

“All other wet and morning markets in townships and housing areas in the city are required to close every Monday for the same purpose,” a City Hall spokesman said.

Forty-eight community halls, some with sport facilities inside, have also been reopened for reservation for sporting events and court bookings from yesterday.

Reservations must be made only via City Hall’s website https://appsys.dbkl.gov.my/klspef/.
