Cinema chains set to reopen tomorrow

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Moviegoers at local cinema chain Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) can look forward to some of the latest movies hitting its silver screen.

GSC announced via its social media channels and website yesterday the showtimes during the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

GSC and other cinema chains were given the green light by the authorities to open their doors to moviegoers from tomorrow onwards.

This comes after having to shut down their operations since the beginning of the Movement Control Order (MCO) more than three months ago on March 18.

The GSC showtimes are from 1pm to 10pm from Mondays to Thursdays, noon to midnight for Fridays and Saturdays, and from 11am to 10pm on Sundays.

GSC has 37 cinemas nationwide with 18 in the Klang Valley.

A spokesman said they were working with film distributors and studios on the release dates for movies that were launched and that were supposed to be screened during the MCO period.

Among the movies are new releases such as Digimon Adventure, Low Season, Kaiji: Final Game and The Bridge Curse.

GSC will also be screening reruns such as Train To Busan, Bloodshot, Jumanji: Welcome Back To The Jungle, Venom, Spiderman Homecoming, Pee Nak 2 and Baaghi 3.

The spokesman also highlighted that from tomorrow, they would be implementing safety measures and precautions in line with the standard operating procedures and guidelines for public safety and health.

“Among the measures and precautions that will be taken are temperature checks for all employees, moviegoers and guests.

“Moviegoers and guests are also required to complete a digital declaration form to facilitate contact tracing.

“We will be controlling the number of people in the common areas of the cinema to prevent overcrowding in line with social distancing.

“During this time, cinema-goers are encouraged to purchase their movie tickets online to avoid physical queuing.”

The spokesman added that social distancing would also be implemented in cinema halls where seating was concerned, with gaps in between each seat.

“Measures include enhanced cleaning and regular sanitisation of frequently-used facilities, as well as disinfection of seats after every screening.

“Our staff will be required to wear face masks as part of the new daily operations.

“Patrons will also be advised to wear face masks when they enter the cinema.”
